Few performance exhaust systems exist for BMW 2002s. Sebring Tuning has
developed two models that provide great performance, wonderful sound at an
amazingly affordable price. Sebring is the leader in horsepower and design
since 1992. Sebring's free-flow technology will give your BMW 2002 a deep,
powerful rich exhaust sound that is distinctive. 2002 Haus is your
exclusive Sebring dealer. NOTES: If the engine internals
have been modified with high compression pistons and there has been
extensive cylinder head modifications (porting and polishing) then these
enlarged exhaust mufflers will provide the "best" performance.
They will increase performance as the enlarged muffler/system allows the
better exhausting of gases! Your 2002 should also have at least a Weber
38/38 downdraft or dual sidedraft 40's to truly take advantage of the
enlarged muffler. In order to take full advantage of the above
mentioned modifications, the entire exhaust system should be enlarged to at
least a 2" system or the 2.25" diameter to match the Sebring. The 2.5"
muffler was designed to be used with 6 cylinder cars, although it
could also be used on highly a modified street car or of course a race car.
These mufflers due to their size cannot be easily made to exit on the right
side in the stock location on the 2002's up to 1975. As shown in the
picture below they will need to be installed so that they exit in the
center. The recommended course of action is to have your local muffler
shop install a industry available center resonator (glass pack) and bend the
enlarged tubing/pipe up and over the rear sub-frame as with the original
system. Be sure to have the muffler shop mount the system with rubber
hangers/mounts (NOT solid mount/weld) in order to maintain the flexibility
that was originally designed into the system. If they do not do that,
there is usually a vibration that occurs at certain rpm's. End cost is
usually in the $300 range! These are simply some guidelines with this
